west adams homes

Craftsman homes are a big part of the Los Angeles landscape, especially in the historic neighborhoods we specialize in.

What defines and sets these craftsman homes of Los Angeles apart?

Inviting porches seem to set back time and provide a wonderful transition between the outdoors and indoor world. Once over the threshold, wood paneling and traditional floor plans create an inviting and warm atmosphere. These homes set themselves apart with their attention to detail and high quality wood finishes.

Benches, wood built-ins, stained glass and boxed ceilings are all very common as well as large built-in china cabinets.

Craftsman style homes can be described as comfortable and attractive and are our CEO Letty’s favorite type of architecture in Los Angeles. She purchased and lovingly renovated her own Craftsman home in the Jefferson Park/West Adams neighborhood in South Los Angeles.

Areas that are known for Craftsman architecture are: Jefferson Park/West Adams, Harvard Heights, Arlington Heights, Koreatown, Hancock Park, Pasadena, Highland Park.

Some of these areas have gotten the designation HPOZ which means Historic Preservation Overlay Zone. This is an initiative from the City of Los Angeles to maintain the historic integrity of these neighborhoods. It puts restrictions and enforces approval prior to a homeowner or investor making changes to the interior. Most commonly the exterior paint color, fences and windows and doors.

According to Curbed Craftsman houses have a surprisingly controversial background.
